Through films, literature, memorial sites, and trials, you’ll examine how different generations express and preserve this memory.</p><p>Through lectures and seminars, you will gain a deeper understanding of how the Holocaust has been processed within Jewish culture, both as a response to ongoing persecution and in the years that followed. The course offers an overview of how the memory of the Holocaust is expressed culturally in different parts of the world - Western Europe, Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, the United States and Israel.</p><p> You will learn how the Holocaust has been portrayed in film, literature, museums, and memorials. You also explore how the memory of the Holocaust has influenced younger generations. The course provides tools to understand how a collective trauma can live on through culture, storytelling, and memory work.</p>
