Master's Programme in Implementation, Transformative Learning and Sustainability

The global sustainability discourse normally embraces three dimensions: ecological, economic and social. Although science and policy place substantial attention on the ecological realm i.e., environmental and climate threats, when operating within the planetary health context, emphasis needs to be redirected to all three dimensions. Ecological challenges create, for example, changing conditions for infectious diseases, food supply and water safety, with the risk of new epidemics, increased malnutrition and global migration. Economic challenges concern, for example, poverty, changing patterns of consumption and overconsumption, antibiotic resistance and the financing of health systems. Social sustainability regards how a rights perspective can be implemented to achieve equity in health and how it can be promoted. You will finish the programme with an independent research project within the field of sustainable development and global health during the last semester of the programme. After studying the Master's Programme in Implementation, Transformation Learning and Sustainability prepares you will have the skills and know-how to design and facilitate the implementation of sustainable actions and projects in complex global health contexts. The programme is given online, except for an obligatory on-campus introductory week in Uppsala. The language of instruction is English.
