Master's Programme in Medical Research

At the Master's Programme in Medical Research, you develop your own direction in the growing field of biomedical research and prepare yourself for a research career. You will focus on learning and applying the latest experimental designs, molecular techniques and large-scale computational data analysis methods for revealing the biology of complex phenotypes and diseases to facilitate clinical research in humans. During the first year, you will follow a course package that provides insight into cutting-edge biomedical research questions, as well as molecular and bioinformatic methodologies. For the second year, you will continue with individual research projects in Sweden or abroad. These are carried out with research groups at universities, biomedical companies or governmental authorities. Project activities are supervised by established researchers, and you will participate in the research group activities similar to our PhD students and researchers. You will have the opportunity to choose your research groups and projects for the internships, whereas theoretical research-oriented education is provided. As many as 85% of our students continue with PhD studies after their Master’s degree, usually in Europe or the US. Some, for instance, choose to work as research assistants or bioinformaticians. The language of instruction is English.
