## About the programme The Global Master’s Programme in Translational Physiology and Pharmacology gives you an integrated knowledge of human physiology, pathology and pharmacology with emphasis on mechanism-based therapies and drug development in a truly translational approach. The obtained skill set at the crossing of academia, applied science, and industry is key to understanding human diseases and their treatments, making you as a student attractive and highly employable, with the utmost potential to improve global health. The curriculum offers you broad knowledge in translational aspects of physiology and pharmacology as well as practical skills in state-of-the-art methodology and know-how. Teaching takes place in an international and world-leading research environment at Karolinska Institutet, providing expert teachers, laboratory training, means of scientific communication, networking opportunities with pharma- and biotech industry, as well as further opportunities for academic research careers. While the first part of the programme focuses mostly on theoretical knowledge, the second part emphasises the practical applicability of the skills learned in preclinical laboratories, as well as clinical or industrial settings. The programme is characterised by close collaboration with pharma and biotech companies, providing supervision and secondments for project work. It will give you ample opportunities through elective courses, individual projects, and thesis work to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills, as well as creating the foundation for a niche expertise. Throughout the two-year programme, integration of knowledge and skills is highlighted to foster a mindset of translating molecular and mechanistic understanding from basic research to novel therapy.
