Music and Sound Production 5

The course comprises three modules. The course content prepares students for placement in the subject area. Module 1 This module includes general music education through seminars featuring presentations and discussions of texts from current general and music-specific educational literature, research, and debate, as well as an introduction to and preparation of an individual teaching philosophy. The ensemble methodology component primarily consists of seminars focused on ensemble leadership from various perspectives. Topics such as goals, content, planning, and assessment of ensemble performance are included. Module 2 This module includes tasks such as creating sound and music for moving images from scratch, as well as studies in music history with an emphasis on the role and function of popular and art music in society during the 20th and 21st centuries. Module 3 This module introduces music law and other related topics relevant to teaching music production in upper secondary school, including copyright and financial flows associated with music publishing. Students carry out recording or music production projects in collaboration with other musicians or music creators, with the aim of learning to adapt and compromise in relation to artistic decisions. They also plan and complete a major music production project based entirely or partially on their own original compositions, with the goal of producing a release-ready product. The scope and nature of the projects are determined in consultation with the teacher, and projects may be combined if agreed upon. The module also includes methodology for teaching music and sound production, including practice teaching.
