Performance Studies - Western Art Music

<p>This is a one-year, full-time course designed for students who wish to further develop their technical and artistic skills at an advanced level in Western art music. The course combines individual instruction with ensemble performance.</p><h3>Instrumental studies </h3><p>You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in your main instrument under the guidance of experienced teachers. Through regular individual lessons, masterclasses and group lessons you develop both technical skills and your artistic expression. </p><h3>Musical Studies and interpretation </h3><p>You regularly work together with your teacher/pianist to develop a deeper understanding of the music you perform, with a focus on both technical precision and artistic interpretation. </p><h3>Chamber Music </h3><p>A central part of the course is chamber music, where you will have the opportunity to play together with other students in small ensembles. This develops both musical sensitivity and communication skills. The ensembles work with varied repertoire from different eras and styles, under the guidance of experienced musicians and teachers. </p><h3>Symphonic Orchestral Playing </h3><p>For students studying a symphony orchestra instrument, the course also includes participation in Malmö Academy of Music's Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra undertakes around six productions each academic year, which will give you valuable experience of playing in a larger ensemble under the direction of professional conductors. It will also give you practical insights into orchestral repertoire and the demands placed on an orchestral musician. </p>
