Physical Geography: Global Ecosystem Dynamics

<p>In this course you will gain knowledge about ecosystem processes in natural, production-oriented and urban ecosystems. You get to analyze the development of ecosystems in relation to various natural processes as well as human impact, such as land use and climate change.</p><p>This course provides tools for analysing the interaction between climate, land use, biodiversity and ecosystem services at different spatial scales. The content of the course includes natural ecosystems, ecosystems with agricultural and forestry production as well as urban ecosystems. The course includes exercises in quantitative influence of global and regional environment and climate changes from different stakeholder perspectives, previous experiences and possible mitigation actions. The exercises comprise identification of suitable methods for scenario development, evaluation and follow-up of adaptation processes and to handle uncertainties relating to selected methods.</p>
