Programming in Python: Basic and Preparatory Course

<p>Would you like to learn programming from the ground up? In this fully online course, you will receive a clear and practical introduction to Python - a programming language widely used in technology, natural sciences and AI. A solid first step towards further studies.</p><p>The course provides you with a solid introduction to what programming is and how computer programs are constructed. The course is aimed at beginners who want to understand how problems can be solved using code. You will learn how to write small to medium-sized programs in Python, one of the most widely used programming languages today.</p><p>During the course, you will work with fundamental programming concepts such as variables, conditional statements and loops. You will also be introduced to basic algorithms and data structures such as lists and matrices, which are central to applications in both engineering and the natural sciences. The course will also teach you debugging, where you practise identifying and correcting errors in your code.</p><p>The course is designed to provide a strong foundation for further studies. After completing the course, you will have the knowledge required to continue with more advanced courses, for example in object-oriented programming and scientific computing. The course can be taken as a standalone course and is the first in a three-course sequence offered in collaboration between Lund University, Uppsala University and Umeå University.</p>
