Prototyping: To Explore and Communicate Design Concepts

The course is an introduction to the development of data systems from a user perspective, with a focus on the interaction between systems and users. The course covers how prototypes can be used in the development and communication of design proposals. Students work in groups to propose interaction designs, produce a manually interactive prototype and conduct several tests with potential users of the product/system. The design and the evaluation are presented in writing and orally with screen recordings of the user tests. The course also gives a general introduction to information systems and how these are related to the administration of an enterprise and its demand for information, as well as the physical and logical composition and function of computer systems. The course also covers, on a basic level, types of data and the components of the computer, its peripheral equipment, memory, network, communication, and security.
