You’ll learn how economists measure growth, productivity and structural change, using models and data from the 1870s to today.</p><p>The course focuses on key drivers of growth, including physical and human capital, general purpose technologies (like steam, electricity and ICT) and sectoral shifts in employment. You’ll also examine how ageing populations affect growth and policy.</p><p>You’ll work with modern databases and learn how to interpret long-term trends in productivity and development. The course introduces different ways to account for growth and critically assess what the numbers really tell us.</p><p>Whether you’re interested in history, economics or policy, this course helps you understand how economies evolve - and how we can make sense of that evolution through data.<br/></p>
