Social Sustainability in Manufacturing

In this course, you will explore social sustainability in the manufacturing industry with a focus on the interaction between humans, technology, and organization (HTO). You will gain an understanding of how equality, diversity, and inclusion influence work environments, decision-making, and production systems. With the HTO perspective as a starting point, the course addresses key concepts such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ethical guidelines, and organizational culture. You will learn how mindset and cultural change can support the transition towards more sustainable and circular production practices, and how these factors affect both technical solutions and organizational structures. Through practical analyses, you will practice identifying and evaluating production decisions where humans, technology, and organization interact, with a particular focus on sustainability and responsibility in industrial contexts.
