Urban and regional planning - Risk, vulnerability and resilience

The course aims to provide knowledge about and the ability to analyze various forms of risks and consequences, for example concerning climate and weather-related, social tensions and conflicts and infrastructure, as well as how these are handled within community planning. Risk, vulnerability and resilience are central concepts in the course. Through these concepts, we ask questions about how society works preventively, with a particular focus on physical planning and the use of land and water resources. The course also deals with changes in the environment and the driving forces behind central risks and threats. In this way, insights about local physical planning and risk management are linked to large-scale processes such as migration, environment, climate change and technological development, as well as concepts such as power, (in)equality and responsibility.
