The course covers the following: - scientific and epistemological perspectives in national and international research on teaching and learning in schools, - qualitative and quantitative research methods and their application in various music teaching contexts and in music education research, - conditions within the subject of music for the development of teaching and learning based on scientific principles, - opportunities and limitations of different research methods, - various examples of music education research problems and research designs, along with their scientific and epistemological foundations, and - students' own music education research problems as preparation for their upcoming degree projects. The course is based on varied working methods which require students take an active role, for instance in exercises, group discussions, and seminars.
Registered for Teachers' professional leadership 2 - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, and completed Teachers' pedagogical approach 1 - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, Teachers' pedagogical approach 2 - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, and Teachers' professional leadership 1 - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, plus at least 120 ECTS credits of subject studies, or equivalent
