## About the programme The programme gives you cutting-edge knowledge and essential practical and communication skills for an academic research career within the field of biomedicine. It focuses on understanding disease mechanisms at a molecular level, particularly for the most common and widespread diseases, with the aim of developing future methods for the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading universities in the biomedical field. The Master's Programme in Biomedicine is heavily research-oriented, running in close association with Karolinska Institutet's renowned research environment and integrated with doctoral education. The programme focuses on basic biological knowledge and how it is used to drive medical developments forward. The first part of the programme gives you an advanced biomedical base that builds upon your bachelor's studies. You then develop a personalised study profile through deeper exploration of one or more of Karolinska Institutet's research areas, by selecting elective courses, which are performed together with PhD students, and through the choice of research area(s) for your independent research projects.
A Bachelor's degree or a professional degree worth at least 180 credits in biomedicine, biotechnology, cellular and molecular biology, medicine, or the equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary school course English 6/English B.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
