Overview
This course covers modern econometric tools and empirical strategies used by economists for the analysis of cross-sectional and panel micro-data. The course teaches the econometric theory behind these techniques, reading of high-quality empirical articles, and applications of the methods using real data sets. Topics covered in the course include (1) randomized experiments, (2) fixed-effects methods, such as difference-in-differences techniques applied to panel data, (3) instrumental variables estimation, (4) regression discontinuity design, (5) matching estimators, such as propensity score and kernel matching, and (6) limited dependent variables.

Specific entry requirements: a minimum of 7.5 credits Economics at the second-cycle level, a minimum of 15 credits Statistics, at the first-cycle level, or 15 credits aquired in time series analysis and regression analysis, and English 6, or the equivalent.
