Overview
<p>Artificial Intelligence (AI) is much more than just technology. It’s changing how we work, communicate, and make decisions as a society. In this course, you’ll explore AI not from a technical perspective, but through the lens of society, ethics, and power. </p><p>AI plays an increasing role in society. It is used in healthcare, environmental protection, traffic safety and crime prevention, but also in more controversial areas such as surveillance, political advertising and predictive policing. While AI offers new possibilities, it can also reinforce inequality, limit accountability and challenge democratic values. Who gets to shape these systems, and who is left out? </p><p>This course addresses critical questions about fairness, responsibility and transparency. You will explore how AI technologies are applied, regulated and contested in areas such as law, health, democracy, climate policy and international relations. </p><h3>What you will learn </h3><p>On the course, you will learn to assess the societal impact of AI using theories from the social sciences and humanities. You will develop your ability to connect real-world challenges to academic analysis, and to think critically about how AI is shaped by and shapes society.</p>
Admission scores
Entry requirements
At least 150 ECTS credits including a graded thesis for the degree of Bachelor, or a completed major, in the Social Sciences, or another equivalent subject. A good command of English language both spoken and written, equivalent to English 6/B (advanced) proficiency in the Swedish secondary system, is required. Equivalence assessments will be made according to national guidelines.
