Overview
<p>Massively parallel sequencing (MPS) generats short sequences from a large number of (mostly many millions) DNA/RNA molecules. To analyze these amounts of sequences, powerful computer tools are a must. In this course you will learn, among other things, how to use programs that can derive an entire DNA strand of an organism by linking millions of MPS sequences in the correct order. You will also learn how to study activity patterns of all genes of an organism, using programs that analyze millions of MPS sequences from RNA samples. In addition, the course teachers how to perform analyzes in a UNIX/Linux environment.</p>

Prerequisites for this course are the following passed courses: BI122G Introduction to Computational Tools for Bioinformatics G1N and BI119G Introduction to Bioinformatics G1N.Additional requirements: attended BI319G Expression analysis with R G1F with passed grade on Written assignment 1 and passed grade on Seminar or passed grade on Written assignment 2 (or the equivalent). Since the level of progression of the course is G2F the prerequisites are at least 60 credits in one or both of the subjects bioinformatics and bioscience, where the courses above are included.
