Overview
Inscribed objects or monuments dated from the third millennium BCE to the end of the Roman era will be studied in a holistic manner. The analysis of the objects and monuments will be based on the historical, art historical, religious and archaeological relevance of the artefact and their interpretation will benefit from the understanding and application of relevant theoretical perspectives. The grammatical analysis of the texts on these artefacts, their genre and the relationship of text and object form another part of the holistic approach and analysis of artefacts. Several case studies from different periods will be encountered during the course. Analysis of an object or a group of objects from a particular museum is a key part of the course.

Entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university, including 30 credits of ancient Egyptian language. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
