Overview
Syftet med kursen är att ge en övergripande bild av socialantropologisk teori, dess historiska utveckling samt de huvudsakliga trenderna. Genom att följa centrala figurer och deras arbeten via deras personliga och intellektuella bana kommer vi att diskutera olika angreppssätt, skolor och perspektiv genom vilka antropologin har utforskat och tänkt kring kultur och samhälle under de senaste 150 åren. Hur har tidigare antropologer tänkt? Vilka frågor har de ställt om människor och samhällen? Vilka fenomen har de fokuserat på? Hur har de samlat in material? Vilka svar har de kommit fram till? En grundläggande idé i kursen är att att arbeta med hur antropologisk teori har utvecklats och formats över tid i relation till ämnets och samhällets förändring.

För tillträde till kursen krävs 30 hp genomgångna kärnkurser, varav 15 hp godkänd kurs, inom socialantropologi eller motsvarande.
