Overview
The course consists of three modules. The module Language Proficiency 2 builds on the skills acquired in Language Proficiency 1. In both modules, students study various fictional texts, news and articles as well as short films and songs. Simple analytical terms are introduced in discussions about fictional texts. Students learn the basics of Arabic grammar analysis and apply this to simple texts. They carry out a comparison between the Syrian/Egyptian dialects and MSA. The module Arabic Dictionaries and Encyclopaedias is taken on its own. Students study how Arabic dictionaries and encyclopaedias have developed and how they are used.
