Kursen behandlar bedömning av inlärares språkfärdighet ur olika perspektiv och utifrån olika bedömningsmodeller. Bedömning problematiseras och diskuteras i relation till skolverksamhetens styrdokument och till olika modeller och teorier om språklig kompetens. Syften och konsekvenser av bedömning diskuteras och problematiseras. Dessutom behandlas prioriteringar och avvägningar som bör göras i samband med bedömning av inlärarspråk. Begreppen formativ och summativ bedömning behandlas översiktligt liksom olika typer av återkoppling och respons.
