Kursen behandlar, ur ett kritiskt granskande perspektiv, relationen mellan å ena sidan undervisning och elevers lärande och å andra sidan bedömning och betygssättning. Ämnesspecifika exempel på olika typer av bedömning för, och av, lärande samt hur kunskap och kunnande kan komma till uttryck på olika sätt analyseras och värderas i relation till styrdokumentens formuleringar om uppdrag och kunskapsbegrepp. I kursen behandlas även specialpedagogiska perspektiv i relation till undervisning och bedömning.
