Overview
Livets ursprung och utveckling i universum är ett nytt interdisciplinärt forskningsområde, astrobiologi. Kursens syfte är att beskriva de senaste rönen om upptäckten av planeter utanför solsystemet och förutsättningar för liv på jorden och andra platser. I kursen ges dels den astronomiska bakgrunden (planetsystemets bildande m m) dels den biologiska bakgrunden (livets uppkomst på jorden m m). Metoder för att söka efter planeter kring andra stjärnor och efter liv på dessa planeter behandlas, liksom sökandet efter radiosignaler från andra civilisationer.
