Kursen inleds med en genomgång av olika industrirobotars uppbyggnad och dess för- och nackdelar. Termer och vanliga begrepp förklaras för att kunna diskutera industrirobotsystem. Vanliga användningsområden för industrirobotar diskuteras och exemplifieras. Industrirobotens olika verktyg avhandlas. Begreppet Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) diskuteras där industriroboten spelar en viktig roll. Vidare ges en introduktion till monteringsteknik med behandling av monteringsprocessens ingående moment. Grundläggande termer och begrepp samt olika monteringsprinciper behandlas, vilket ger en bakgrund till monteringsprocessen.
