Overview
Our society needs independent thinkers with a strong grounding in business and economics who can apply their knowledge to help organisations and businesses develop. A degree from the Bachelor's Programme in Business and Economics equips you to contribute to addressing important societal challenges. The programme is designed for students seeking a high-quality academic education with a strong international focus and a solid foundation for a successful professional career. Its breadth and depth equip you to work across a wide range of industries and roles. You can tailor your degree to your interests through specialisation, elective courses and study abroad opportunities. **High-quality international education**
The programme, like the School of Business, Economics and Law, holds international accreditations. This means that you will study in a programme that is quality assured against international standards and be taught by academics who are active researchers in their respective fields. The courses provide a broad international perspective, and you will study in an international learning environment. The programme is designed to give you the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of our partner universities. Your degree is internationally recognised and provides a strong foundation for further studies at the advanced level. **Relevant knowledge to meet societal challenges**
In the Bachelor's Programme in Business and Economics, you build a solid foundation in the core disciplines of economics, business administration and commercial law while learning how to apply your knowledge in practice. In many courses, you will work on case studies and meet guest speakers from the business community. In others, you will use your knowledge to address sustainability-related challenges. As a programme student, you have the opportunity to participate in workshops that help develop skills valued in working life, such as presentation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. You will also be part of an environment shaped by the School of Business, Economics and Law’s close collaboration with organisations in both the private and public sectors. Students who become involved in the Student Union or one of its companies have many opportunities to meet potential future employers and to apply their knowledge and skills in practical settings while studying. **A broad foundation and opportunities for specialisation **
The programme is divided into two phase, both of which comprise three semesters. During the first phase, you study the core disciplines of business administration, economics, statistics and commercial law. The combination of subjects provides a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of economic and business-related issues and encourages you to approach questions from different perspectives. In the second phase, you continue your studies within one of three main fields: business administration, economics or financial economics. Depending on your main field, there are different opportunities for further specialisation. Within business administration, for example, you may take courses in areas such as marketing, management, accounting and financial management, while economics offers courses in areas such as development economics, environmental economics and policy evaluation. The programme concludes with a degree project in your main field. During the second phase, you have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of the School’s partner universities. Alternatively, you may choose elective courses at the School of Business, Economics and Law, elsewhere at the University of Gothenburg, or at another Swedish university.
