Bachelor's Programme in Egyptology

Are you passionate about Ancient Egypt? Do you want to immerse yourself in the material culture and archaeology, and learn to read its language and scripts? Do you also want to understand the relationship to contemporary cultures in the Near East? The Bachelor's Programme in Egyptology offers you a unique opportunity to combine studies in Egyptology and Assyriology, giving you a strong background in the dominant cultures of Egypt and the Ancient Near East. The core is Egyptology, complemented by studies in Assyriology. Both subjects combine the textual and the material evidence and provide a rich picture of the past in these regions. You will learn to understand and interpret issues and questions relating to society, material culture, archaeology, religion, language and scripts in ancient Egypt and neighbouring areas. You will learn to identify, formulate and solve problems independently and in groups. There are also opportunities to combine your studies with fieldwork and internships, for example, in museums. The programme prepares you for work and further studies in the education and cultural sectors, museums, libraries and archives, among others. The language of instruction is English.
