Overview
The Bachelor's Programme in Game Design and Programming equips you with the skills to develop commercially viable games and a comprehensive understanding of their mechanics and societal impact. This program combines hands-on game development with theoretical courses in game design and programming. You will delve into game design, development, and analysis theories and methods. Effective communication is essential for game developers, both for team collaboration and for shaping the game experience. Thus, the program provides training in expression through text, imagery and games, as well as verbal communication. As a programmer, you will gain the logical and technical skills necessary to create games using both current and emerging technologies. Through multiple project-based courses, you will collaborate with students from other disciplines to produce games. Our program attracts a diverse group of students from around the world and is internationally recognised for the high quality of student projects. Professionals and academics regularly visit to share their insights and experiences, providing students with valuable networking opportunities. Our students have a history of success, exhibiting at international show floors like the alt.ctrl.GDC, launching commercial indie titles such as [Amelite](<https://game.speldesign.uu.se/projects/2d-games/amelite/>), [Dwarfs](<https://game.speldesign.uu.se/projects/2d-games/dwarfs/>), [Defunct](<https://game.speldesign.uu.se/projects/3d-games/defunct/>), [Frog Climbers](<https://game.speldesign.uu.se/projects/arcade-games/frog-climbers/>), [Secrets of Grindea](<https://game.speldesign.uu.se/projects/2d-games/secrets-of-grindea/>), [State of Wonder](<https://game.speldesign.uu.se/projects/2d-games/state-of-wonder/>) and [many, many wins](<https://game.speldesign.uu.se/awards/>) at the Swedish Game Awards, the largest competition for independent developers in the Nordic region.
