Master’s Programme in Molecular Biology at the University of Gothenburg In the area of molecular biology, new technologies have been developed, making it possible to see what is happening at the cellular and molecular levels. These technologies, together with the genetic maps of a number of different species, give the foundations for the new challenges of molecular biology: to find new proteins, determine how they interact, and establish what mechanisms guide cellular differentiation. Performing research on a number of different species of model organisms will give you knowledge of the molecular mechanisms that regulate important functions inside the living cell, and also of the development of characteristics of different organisms. In the Master’s Programme in Molecular Biology, you will learn how the cell’s DNA, proteins, and molecules act and interact, and how you can solve major biological problems by changing the cell's function and properties. You can tailor your education to your own interests and ambitions with advanced-level elective courses. At the end of your studies, you will perform an individual laboratory-based project of up to one year in one of our research groups, preparing you for a successful research career in academia, industry, or public authorities.
