Kursen ger en introduktion till filosofins och den kristna teologins huvudproblem, delområden, historia och redskap och består av fyra delkurser. Kursens upplägg styrs av centrala frågor inom filosofi och teologi som belyses både systematiskt och historiskt. Deltagarna får öva förmågan att med egna ord återge ståndpunkter och texter, att formulera problem och teser, att skriva vetenskaplig text, att använda både svenska och engelska och att söka relevant information. På egen hand och med stöd av viss undervisning inhämtas stora delar av Bibelns innehåll.
