Kursen ger grundläggande kunskaper om det humana genomets sammansättning, samt genetiska mekanismer för DNA-replikation, mutagenes, reparation och rekombination. Kursen ger kännedom om genetiska faktorers betydelse för uppkomst av sjukdomar, missbildningar och utvecklingsrubbningar hos människan och för variation av normala egenskaper. Olika metoder för att studera genomet och genetiska sjukdomar diskuteras. **Distanskursens upplägg:** Kursen är helt webbaserad. Kommunikation sker via lärplattformen Studium, där inspelade föreläsningar och annat studiematerial finns. Kursen avslutas med en hemtentamen som är tillgänglig via nätet.
