Overview
The course deals with the geological, microbiological, chemical, and physical processes that link Earth’s systems. We will study the redox chemistry of biologically active elements at the microbial scale and the evolution of microbial processes through geologic time. Models (box models and reaction-transport models), stable and radioactive isotopes are applied as tools for studying the interactions between biogeochemical cycles.

Access to the course requires knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree, which includes at least 90 credits in geology or geoscience, of which at least 30 credits are courses in geochemistry (GG5011/GG5111). English B or equivalent.
