Kursen behandlar grunderna inom mikrobiologi, växtfysiologi och humanfysiologi. Kursen indelas i tre moduler. Modul 1: Teori, 5,5 förutbildningspoäng. Modulen behandlar mikrobiologi och hur mikroorganismer interagerar med sin omgivning. Vidare jämförs eukaryota cellers byggnad och metabolism hos svampar, växter och djur. Fokus under momentet är organens uppbyggnad och funktion och hur dessa samverkar framför allt ur ett humant perspektiv. Modul 2: Laborationer, 1 förutbildningspoäng. Modulen innehåller mikrobiologiska och humanfysiologiska laborationer. Modul 3: Projekt, 1 förutbildningspoäng. I modulen ingår ett projekt med inriktning mot kulturell könsdeterminering, sexuell läggning, skydd och abort.
