Kursen ger kunskaper i försöksplanering och statistik för experimentella vetenskaper med naturvetenskapliga exempel som grund. Kursen behandlar främst enfaktors analyser. Innehållet omfattar bland annat principer för hypotesprövning, sannolikhetslära, statistiska slutsatser, statistisk styrka, beskrivande statistik, statistiska fördelningar, korrelation och regression, analys av kategoriska data och ickeparametriska test. Undervisningen sker genom föreläsningar, datorövningar och räkneövningar samt provtagningar i fält Kursen är an av de obligatoriska kurserna i kandidatexamen vid Naturventenskaplig fakultet, Göteborgs Universitet och motsvarar den fakultetsgemensamma kursen MSG830, Statistisk analys och experimentplanering.

Completed basic courses in biology of 60 credits in the subject areas cell biology, molecular genetics, evolution, botanical and zoological physiology, ecology and biodiversity and systematics, or an equivalent discipline of which at least 45 credits must be approved.
