Overview

Companies and organisations are constantly seeking professionals who can contribute to their growth and help them reach their target audience effectively. By studying Business Development and Marketing, you develop skills that are in high demand, such as strategic planning, business model development, digital marketing, branding, sustainability, and relationship building. These skills make you a valuable asset to organisations, increasing your employability and career prospects. It also prepares you with valuable tools if you are looking to start your own business.

This Master's programme provides you with a broad foundation within the fields of business development and marketing, alongside with cutting-edge research. It gives you a unique possibility to choose between a general track and a gaming track depending on your specific interests.

During your studies you will get opportunities to interact with companies in the region (for instance within the business incubator at Science Park Skövde), and to apply their knowledge in practical settings.

The Focus of Your Studies

The first semester starts with two courses providing you fundamental knowledge in business development and marketing on advanced level, after which you choose between the general business administration track and the track focusing on business development in the gaming sector.

In the general track you learn how digitalisation and sustainability shape modern business development and marketing, whereas the gaming track equips with specific knowledge of the gaming sector. The gaming track has a limited number of guaranteed study places and may be subject to a selection. The tracks jointly immerse in issues of strategic business development and marketing.

You will complete the programme with a 15-credit degree project, conducted in pairs.

Career Opportunities

The need for this master programme is well-pronounced both in Sweden and internationally. For example, McKinsey’s 2020 report on the future of work in Europe predicts that only 15 occupations account for almost 30% of potential future net job growth –marketing professionals, business developers, and managers are among these 15 professions.

Research Within This Field

Find out more about the Organising for Sustainable Development research specialisation on our website.
