Overview

<p>Do you want to understand what’s happening in Belarus and Ukraine - and why? This course gives you tools to analyse political and social change in the region, with a focus on both historical roots and current events. You’ll also explore how global conflicts and local perspectives interact.</p><p>During the course, you’ll explore current political and social issues in Belarus and Ukraine. You will read texts offering different perspectives on democratisation, migration, and memory politics - and discuss how these theories help explain actual events. You will actively take part in discussions on national identity, civil society, protests, and security politics. </p><p>The course gives you the opportunity to analyse both local and global forces shaping the region. You’ll practice critical thinking, academic writing, and connecting theory to practice. The course is taught in English and is ideal for students curious about Eastern Europe, societal change, and international politics.</p>
