This course is an independent experimental or theoretical project and the student is responsible for seeking the appropriate supervisor prior to the start of the course. The supervisor can be one of the department’s teachers, researchers or professors. An external supervisor from a company, another faculty at GU, or a governmental agency etc. can after approval from the department be appointed. The appropriate literature for the project should be studied and the student should with experimental, theoretical or/and computational methods solve the project objective. After the course the student should have experience in scientific research, reporting, and analysis of scientific results. The project work is normally part of a research project at one of the research groups at the department, but it can also be done at a company, government agency, etc. The work usually contains both theoretical and experimental elements, but entirely theoretical projects are also possible. Course literature is selected in discussion with the supervisor. After completion the work, it is summarized as a written scientific report and presented at a seminar. It is the student´s responsibility to find a supervisor. The date for the start of the course is agreed upon with the supervisor.
