Overview
Kursen ger en övergripande orientering i antikens arkitektur i både den grekiska och den romerska kultursfären från 700-talet f.Kr. till senantiken under 300-talet e.Kr. Fokus ligger på den offentliga arkitekturens olika stilar, kolonnordningar, byggnadstekniker samt hur byggnadsprojekt planerades och genomfördes. Kursen tar även upp hur den offentliga arkitekturen reflekterades i bostadsarkitekturen. Kursen ger kunskap om arkeologiskt såväl som skriftligt källmaterial och om hur senare forskning problematiserat och diskuterat antikens arkitektur. Ett återkommande inslag i kursen är hur antikens arkitektur använts som ideal och förebild i senare perioder genom historien samt hur kulturarvsdiskussionen påverkar både forskningen och vår bild av antiken idag.
