Overview
This course presents and problematises the concept of communicative competence and discusses the communicative view of language that characterises today’s foreign language teaching. It also introduces the use of information and communication technology in language teaching, focusing on digital literacy, mobile-assisted language learning, and different forms of authentic web-based communication. A large part of the course includes the students’ own activities in the form of for example website analyses, web seminars, project development, multimedia production and continuous participation in different kinds of web-based communication (such as blogging, discussion forums and chats). The teaching is distance-based and includes no physical meetings. Teaching is delivered in the form of lectures, seminars, group discussions, and oral and written assignments through an online learning platform. All teaching is in English.
