Communication in the Workplace: Interculturality and Inclusion

The course has three parts: Introduction, Internship and Theoretical Perspectives. In the introduction part, students engage in small-scale, hands-on projects examining communicative methods in intercultural workplace settings. Students can tailor the content to their specific areas of interest. The internship part consists of an internship at a workplace where observation and assessment of communication practices are carried out in light of theoretical perspectives. Techniques for enhanced intercultural communication and inclusion at the workplace are explored. The focus is on identifying relevant areas of intervention at the workplace based on communication theories. Students reflect on their own communication in connection to the workplace. In the theoretical perspectives part, practice is both deepened and integrated with theories in the field of intercultural communication and communication in the workplace. This part is completed in dialogue with the workplace and focuses on the feasibility of implementing the interventions/actions to strengthen communication in the specific workplace.
