The course gives a theoretical introduction to data extraction from digital storage. This includes hardware solutions, data formats, software for data extraction, data extraction from physical devices such as hard disks or ssd, data extraction from logical devices, email systems, and databases, survailance and log analysis, hiding of data, encryption of data, prevention of manipulation of data, and practical exercises in data extraction.

The courses Linux Administration 7.5 credits and Programming 7.5 credits or the courses Introduction to Data Science 15 credits and Programmering för data science 7.5 credits. English 6 or English level 2. Exemption of the requirement in Swedish is granted for those with foreign grades.
