Overview
This course gives students an opportunity to learn and integrate key theoretical and practical competences relevant for the research and development of embedded and intelligent systems, typically with a project focus on small collaborative robots. The course, in the main area of Computer Science and Engineering, is included as a compulsory course in the Master's Programme in Embedded and Intelligent Systems 120 credits, an elective course in the Master of Science Programme in Computer Science and Engineering 300 credits and Master of Science Programme in Intelligent Systems 300 credits, and a freestanding course. Following successful completion of the course the student should be able, both individually and in collaboration with others, to: - identify and define requirements, models and solutions for embedded and intelligent systems - program an embedded computer implementing intelligent functions for sensing (such as situation and position estimation, comprising calibration, filtering, and fusing signals from different sensors), actuator control, and wireless communication in a distributed system - evaluate system designs, also from the sustainability perspective, to identify opportunities, limitations, and impact on society (e.g., equality/ diversity/ internationalization), environment and economics.
