Overview
This course is for Master’s level students in design who are interested in emerging approaches in design research, situated in the context of climate change. Over four weeks, students will explore approaches such as meta design and critical design and posthumanism through readings, seminars, discussions and lectures from design researchers connected to Linnaeus University’s programme Design + Change. You will get insights into theoretical frameworks and references within these emerging fields of design research, a brief introduction to research ethics, and the chance to practice your academic or artistic writing. The course ends with the writing and presentation of a personal design research proposal related to sustainability. Whether you’re thinking about a future thesis, planning a research project, or just want to deepen your understanding of these specific design practices, this course offers tools and inspiration to get you started.
