Kursen beskriver bakgrunden till och konstruktionen av de diagnostiska systemen DSM och ICD. Den ger en generell orientering i olika kliniska syndrom såsom tex affektiva syndrom och olika ångesttillstånd, trauma- och stressrelaterade syndrom, missbruk/beroendesyndrom, neuropsykiatriska syndrom, psykosomatiska syndrom, psykoser samt personlighetssyndrom, i deskriptiva termer.
