Overview
This course aims at giving an orientation about concepts, working methods and strategies in modern drug development, with emphasis on the early part (“drug discovery”). The following topics are treated: Identification and validation of new cellular target molecules, bioinformatics, genetic model organisms, and methods for high-throughput screening. The course content consists of lectures, seminars, practical demonstrations and written examination. Invited speakers will treat different applied and fundamental aspects, and opportunities will be offered to study practical working methods. The goal for the course is to be oriented about concepts, working methods and strategies in modern drug development.

Entry requirements
For admission to the course, approved courses of 120 credits in the field of natural science are required, of which at least 15 credits must be within the main subject molecular biology and 15 credits in the main subject chemistry or equivalent. In addition, Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.
