In this course, you’ll be introduced to the economic history of technological development. You’ll learn to understand the driving forces behind innovation and how new technologies have affected growth, living standards, the environment and social structures.<br/></p><p>The course gives you tools to analyse technological change using concepts such as technological systems, paradigms and path dependence. You’ll also get an overview of key ideas and theories about innovation and the knowledge economy. Through concrete examples - like the electric car and microelectronics - you’ll gain insight into how technology both solves problems and creates new challenges.<br/></p><p>This course is for you if you’re curious about the interplay between technology, society and the economy.
