<p>Why do women earn less than men? How does your background affect your opportunities in life? Explore these and many other pressing questions of the labour market, using research as your tool.</p><p>We address central and current issues in labour economics, focusing on topics frequently debated in society:</p><ul><li>Why do women still earn less than men?</li><li>Is higher education worth the investment?</li><li>How does family background affect life opportunities?</li><li>What are the effects of migration and discrimination?</li></ul><p>We draw on scientific articles and combine theoretical perspectives with empirical findings. You will practise reading and interpreting current research, presenting its main results and using statistical tools to analyse data.</p><p>The course takes an international perspective and is well suited for those who wish to work in advanced analysis within the public sector, international organisations, or business, as well as in policy analysis or research.</p>
Admission scores
Entry requirements
Students who have been admitted to the Master Programme in Economics and have taken the course NEKN21 "Advanced Microeconomic Analysis" are eligible to take this course. For other students, at least 90 ECTS-credits in economics are required. These must include the course NEKN21 "Advanced Microeconomic Analysis" or an equivalent course. Students who have not previously taken NEKN33 "Applied Microeconometrics" or an equivalent course are strongly recommended to take NEKN33 "Applied Microeconometrics" parallel to NEKN66 "Advanced Labour Economics".
