Kursen ger en introduktion till pedagogik som kunskapsområde. Här behandlas olika pedagogiska möjligheter och utmaningar som människan och samhället idag står inför. Kursen ger även en introduktion till olika perspektiv på lärande i olika sammanhang (till exempel familj, skola och arbetsliv) och till olika perspektiv på samspel i grupper och identitetsformering. I kursen behandlas även tolkning och granskning av kvantitativa redogörelser, samt kritisk reflektion över statistikens möjligheter och begränsningar.
