Kursen utgör en fördjupning inom pedagogik som kunskapsområde. I kursen behandlas olika teoretiska perspektiv, forskningstraditioner, centrala begrepp och teman inom pedagogik. Hit hör till exempel frågor om ledarskap inom utbildning, arbetsliv, fritids- och familjesammanhang; perspektiv och metoder som rör kommunikation och samtalspraktiker; hur samhället och dess institutioner organiserar och styr utbildning, samt hur detta bidrar till att fostra individer, medborgare och arbetstagare.
