Overview
The course is aimed at those who are interested in railways and want to deepen their understanding of how modern electrical railway transportation systems work. During the course, we work with the main components of an electric railway system – from track and rolling stock to pantographs, rail return and on-board equipment – and analyse how they affect the system's capacity and performance. The course also provides an introduction to railway safety and signalling systems. **Outline for distance course:** The course is given in Swedish. Teaching includes lectures and seminars online. Communication during the course takes place via the course page on the learning platform Studium. Access to a computer with a stable internet connection and a webcam is required. Each student chooses a topic of their interest and conducts an individual investigation. The course concludes with an oral presentation and a written report. The time for the presentations is planned in dialogue with the student. Active participation in seminars is examined with a quiz for those students who cannot attend the lectures.
