Overview
This course is for you that search knowledge about the energy systems of the society and want to take part in analysis of, and discussion about, the development of the future energy system of the society, including transportation in an energy and environmental perspective. The course includes an overview of the fundamentals of energy systems. In a specialized part, physical, chemical, and technical concepts for energy conversions of importance are treated. The use of different biological and geological energy resources is also treated, as well as techniques for energy recovery and production of different energy carriers. Resources treated are e.g. sun, wind, biofuels, petroleum, nuclear-, and geothermal power. How the use of the above- mentioned energy resources, e.g. for transportation, influences the environment is also treated. The course is given in English and consists of lectures, seminars, calculus exercises, assessments, study visits and a project work.

Alt 1: För tillträde till kursen krävs godkänt resultat på kurserna Naturresurshushållning (ES1300), Miljövetenskapliga metoder och projekt (ES1203) (eller ES1202), Föroreningars spridning och effekter på biologiska system (ES1305) (eller ES1303 + ES1304) eller motsvarande kunskaper. Alt 2: Godkänt resultat på kurserna Climate change in an earth system perspective (GVN460) (eller NGN160) och Global change - problem, analysis, measures (ES2613) (eller FIM900) eller motsvarande kunskaper. Alt 3: Minst 90 hp inom naturvetenskap (biologi, kemi, geovetenskap, miljövetenskap med naturvetenskaplig inriktning, fysik) eller teknik varav minst 30 hp ska vara inom miljövetenskap med naturvetenskaplig inriktning eller motsvarande kunskaper. Språkkunskaper motsvarande Engelska 6/Engelska B.
